Almonte Bicycle Works supports Haiti’s continued redevelopment following the devastating 2010 earthquake through a Focus on Development Bikes for Haiti program.
We first started out by collecting donated bikes, refurbishing them and sending them to Haiti, but it didn’t take us long to realize that it made more sense to keep revitalized used bikes here and instead send all proceeds from used bike sales.
A very positive overview of the program and its history was written by local bike supporter Jeff Mills of community development organization The Mills and published in The Millstone in 2012; you can read it here.
Please continue to bring in your used and neglected bikes!
